Let’s start by being realistic:
being a grown-up is hard, and it’s stressful, and sometimes you just need to
let your inner child run rampant and let loose. A good way to do that is to
throw on your favorite superhero pajamas and let loose. As someone who has a
shameful amount of those, I think it can be a fun way to unwind and release
some of that stress.
Firstly,
the basics for throwing any kind of a sleepover, because let’s face it, that’s
what this is, is to have not only a good idea of who’s coming, and making sure
you have the space for them, but also things like whether or not it’s coed or
same-sex. Though I think as adults having a boy-girl party wouldn't be too
taboo but hey, to each his/her own.
Secondly,
you want to make sure there is a place that’s quiet for whoever wants to go
fall asleep first. Not everyone falls asleep at the same time, so make sure
there’s a spot where they can drift off. Let’s also remember the tried and true
rule: don’t fall asleep with your shoes still on or you’re just inviting people
to mess with you while you’re sleeping. Rules are rules.
Thirdly,
decide whether or not you’re planning on serving food and especially breakfast.
You don’t want everyone waking up and being upset because they were expecting
you to feed them and you had other plans.
Lastly,
alcohol. It usually goes without saying that any kind of adult party is going
to have copious amounts of alcohol, so make sure you have plenty. Though to
keep it classy and fair, you should make sure you have at least one
non-alcoholic drink in the house, but I would hope any self-respecting adult
would, even accidentally, have some kind of beverage in there house that
doesn’t have alcohol in it. If not, then you should probably stop reading this
and get help of the professional variety.
So
you've got your basics down, awesome. You've also decided to go with a
superhero theme, and I know I don’t know you, but that makes you awesome in my
book. How do we continue to run with it? You may just want to draw the line at
the superhero pajamas and that’d be fine, but if you want to take it further
you have options.
With
the boom in popularity of superhero movies, Marvel and DC counterparts to
classic board games have been popping up for years. Guess Who often gets turned
into a drinking game, so why not do that with Marvel Guess Who?
There
are also great video games based on the worlds of comic books and let’s not
forget the movies themselves. Whether you want a movie to have playing in the
background, or a game or activity to take the spotlight, there’s plenty of
opportunity as it seems like nowadays you can get a superhero version of
everything. To illustrate that, I own a pair of Captain America socks. Captain.
America. Socks. They’re fantastic.
